
Contractors or subs who do not have a direct contract with the owner must file a pre-lien notice before they can file a lien. There is no time deadline when the pre-lien notice must be filed other than before a lien is filed. A lien filed by original contractors must be
within six months after the last item of work has been furnished. Other parties have four months. Engineers are covered by mechanic’s lien laws but construction must have started. A release of
